    Akihiro Kubota (1960-) is a Tokyo-based artist/researcher in the age of post-digital era.

    His main interests include realtime AV performance, sound and software art and interface/interaction design by physical computing.

    He is now investigating the possibilities of computers as a material (digital materialism) and algorithmic audio-visual improvisation. His recent exhibitions are "so-ci-e-ty of al-go-rithm : translocal mutations" at ISEA2002, Nagoya, Japan (http://vision.mdg.human.nagoya-u.ac.jp/isea/, http://mxhz.org/ societyofalgoritm/) and "material AV" at Sounding Spaces - 9 Sound Installations at NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC], Tokyo, Japan.(http://www.ntticc.or.jp/Archive/2003/Sounding_Spaces/index.html)

    His main publications (CD and books) are "Sonority #1" (Arret Arret Recording 2002,
    http://www.arret-arret.tk/), "Kieyuku Computer" (Vanishing Computer, Iwanami Shoten 1999),
    "Post-Techno(logy) Music" (Oomura Shoten 2001), "Design Language" (Keio University Press 2002) and others. Currently, he is working as a professor at Information Art Course, Department of Information Design, Tama Art University, Tokyo, Japan.

    He received his Dr. Eng. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1989.
