Art on the net 2002
statement by Ansgard Thomson revised copy of public vote on 17
.10.2002
As a visual digital artist and cyberartist I have
critically reviewed all entries carefully as a possible artwork I
might like to see in a museum to have a lasting impact on the actual
event of 911 as an act of evil masterminded attack on the human
condition in the new millennium. Some of the artists have used
this opportunity to create a memorial for the innocent victims of
this event with merit . The new media as a technical means alone
of communication fails to express the incredible impact this event
had on the soul of all of us. As we like to preserve an image of the
human race as we have known to protect our integrity as artists, we
have to choose carefully. It is therefore understandable that
some political activists needed to express themselves and placed
themselves into the general media position of reporting instead of
abstracting . With my own image I tried to say that no matter
who we put behind barbed wire to protect us from such attacks from
the sky ,this evil event can not be undone ,we are all victims of
such human reasoning and should recognize the insanity that lead to
it. (This includes attacs from new media that I like to call terror
from the net ) I do hope that art on the net will be able to
find a solution for the obvious short comings of such form of
judging by including more artists ,who still choose art over cold
blooded technology .
Warren Richard Furman . The digital
image of dancing figures celebrating their victory over all normal
reasoning expresses the evil spirit that made it possible to act on
a human mind to this point in time to send a message to the world .
SORRY he gave up ,but his work still stands as digital art for me .
Russel Pensyl This animation worked for me because it is not
a mouse over work of photographs but a beautiful work I still want
to call fine digital art .
Jürgen Trautwein . This short
and intense flash movie with his drawing `s expresses the shock of
the event vivid in image Word and sound to leave a lasting
impression.
Kirsten Palanca. Direct photo reporting of
the day she experienced without adding any other elements to
distract from her personal experience she is sharing with some
friends with also includes the impressive sounds recorded.
Kazuyo Okudaira For a effective artistic digital
rendering of his presentation also providing excellent plugin
information to view his works in different size indicate good
cyberartist manners and effective communication what the event meant
to the world ( without the political overtones at the end I would
have considered this work objective 9.11 webart )
Colleen
Corradie. Her graphic of the falling towers is showing us
traditional work is not out of place on the ever changing
Internet and new media illusion to create lasting art .
Eric Salvagio . From all the memorial presentation s off
other artists in the list his digital rendering stands out as such
and does not need any comments as a memorial . It is well done for
the memory of the victims of 911.
