Who are you, friends? by Andrey Velikanov

  Hello everyone,

Let's discuss - says Art on the Net and I thought we will have a wonderfull possibility to speak about very interesting subjects. What a surprise and disappointment! You speak only about technical problems and no word about art and philosophy. No word about conceptions. No word about event itself.

I can see conversations only about macs and pcs and bashful wishes that projects should al least have some small attitude to 11.09 and be "critical in some way".

Who are you, friends?
Artists?

Maybe.. in some way..

But generaly you are technicians, programmers and users.. (sorry, advanced users!..)

Fuck off with those who offer 29,5 Mb movie for weak modems but this is a problem of these authors. It's not a subject to discuss. More important is - fuck off with those who cannot distinctly express their ideas (or have not ideas) and with those who have not possibility to judge this "nothing".

Tetsuo Kogawa and You Minowa, your introducions to the topic were very interesting, I read them with pleasure. But what you made when you turned participants into jurors - you turned Art on the Net into media chaos and therefore - into only one otstanding masterpiece in the list of participants.

From the other side - nothing out of the way.. As usual - prosperity of the presentation at the crisis of representation.

  Dear Andrey Velikanov,

The reason why I suggested the tech-thread was I simply didn't want to waste a time, and I found many pieces are lack of accessibility. Although, I agree with that art is not fast food, as Eduardo said.(by the way, liked this phrase so much.) Still, only SLOW FOOD can make a viewer be patient. You don't know whether FAST or SLOW food until downloaded. So, I thought the thread was necessary in the early stage. As I said, this forum is not Useit.com or Flashkit.com here. If wanted, there are so many great sites out of here. However, at the same time, what do you judge, if you haven't seen it at all? Philosophy? Statement? or Arty Farty atmosphere? But, how? All we are visual artists. What we can represent is everything.

I think this judging system is reasoned, and main motivation to submit the work for me, although It was easy to imagine failing to chaotic situation, easy to imagine so many unrelated works would be submitted like spam mails. But, If only biased artists can be represented and have a right to say something, I wonder how it makes a sense. That's a big joke at all. I assume 9.11 is caused by such an attitude, feeling selected in terms of "so-called-justice", shutting up ears for the evil opponent. This is still on going.

On the process of my work, I watched a cinema called "Promises" directed by Justine Shapiro, B.Z. Goldberg and Carlos Bolado. This documentary film made the fundamental stance of my work clear. In one scene, a Palestinian girl talked to her colleagues in the discussion, whether they should meet approached Israeli children or not.

"Ever talked our situation to Jewish? Never. That's why we need it. Arab and Jewish need a conversation."

I think there is lot of things to learn from what the girl said.

**I am sorry for all of you to talk myself so much, I also want to know what you are feeling about the incident and works in the list. Since this is a great chance to talk to who you haven't met ever, who are from different countries.

Things seem to be started. Just be relaxed.

cheers.
